Chanur's Homecoming by CJ Cherryh

My only regret with the fourth book in the Chanur series is that I don't have more time to read right now. The book is fast-paced and the previous two books in the series had no conclusion. So each page I read puts me closer to the conclusion of the story. I just learned that CJ Cherryh is actually the pen name for Caroline Janice Cherry. http://www.cherryh.com/www/menu.htm

So I have to keep reading to find out how this tangled conspiracy plot turns out in the end.

Monday Musings

Today is a day off for me. Although I still have work to do, I don't have any deadlines to meet. So I could actually read more!

I am now reading the last book in the Pride of Chanur triology. http://www.librarything.com/work/86494 So maybe there will be an ending to this book. I look forward to finding out how this all turns out for Pyanfur and Tully.

The Kif Strike Back

I am reading the third book in the Pride of Chanur series http://www.sfreviews.net/chanurpride.html by C.J. Cherryh. The series http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chanur_novels has strong female characters. The women are the space ship captains and crew. They are an alien race that seem a little like large cats. The main character is Pyanfur Chanur. Their problems start when they pick up an earthman and save him from the Kif. This seems to create a lot of problems for the ship and the crew. But in each book they keep saving him. The first book in the series was nominated for a Hugo.

The Thirteenth Tale: A Novel

One of my recent finds was The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. http://www.thethirteenthtale.com/This is the type of book I can't put down. i find myself taken into the world of the book and leaving this one. The book is full of mystery. Full of people who like books and like to write books and tell stories. The book has wondeful stories in it. It has a haunting quality to it.

If you like a book that takes you on a journey I highly recommend this book.
